"Boise's Old Penitentiary" is the latest work from Chuck Trunks!

Boise, ID - December 25, 2017 - "Boise Old Penitentiary" - Now serving as a "killer" historical destination in East Boise and as the backdrop for concerts at the Botanical Garden, the Old Idaho Penitentiary opened its doors in 1872 and housed 13,000 inmates until 1973 - 10 of which were put to death.  The maximum number of inmates (both men and women) held at any given moment was 600 - many of which helped quarry sandstone from nearby Table Rock to help build the prison as well as the foundation of the State Capitol Building.

"Go Broncos!" The latest work from Trunks Art's Boise Idaho Series!

Boise, ID - November 10, 2017 - "Boise Broncos" - The Boise Broncos started playing in Bronco Stadium in 1970 (renamed to Albertsons Stadium in 2014).  The Broncos are known for their explosive offense, relentless defense, an insane win-loss record and (of course) the iconic blue turf.  I love going to games at this exciting venue.  Go Broncos!

Latest Work From Trunks Art: Boise Depot!

Boise, ID - September 24, 2017 - "Boise Depot" - The Boise Depot HAS to be majestic, stunning and chock full of rich history because it blatantly stares across the heart of downtown and straight at the city's architectural masterpiece, the State Capitol Building.  Built in 1925 and fully restored in 1993 by the Morrison Knudsen Company, this Spanish-styled structure once served as a Union Pacific railroad depot for the great city of Boise.

New Art from TRUNKS ART: "Boise Summer Float."

Boise, ID - August 3, 2017 - "Boise Summer Float" - First it was the winter from Siberia, then it was spring flooding on the Bayou, then it was trees being pulled down by fast moving water...and then...and then...it was finally time to enjoy the annual float season here on the beautiful Boise River.  Ahh...what a way to beat the blistering heat of summer.

Latest in "The Series" from Trunks Art: "HOTEL BOISE!"

Boise, ID - July 3, 2017 - "Hotel Boise" - They came in droves to the Boise Basin in 1863 after gold was discovered here in August 2, 1862.  This created an immediate need for hotels, restaurants, stores, saloons and brothels.  The Idanha Hotel opened on January 1, 1901, the first day of the 20th century, and was designed by William S. Campbell, who picked the French-chateau style after visiting every modern hotel between Boise and New York.  It quickly became THE hotel in Boise and cost $125K to build and charged $2 per night!  Today, the iconic landmark serves as an apartment building that is believed to be haunted.

TRUNKS ART is honored to have provided the book cover art for Keith Jordan's "One White Whisker!"

Boise, ID — June 6, 2017 — Meet Mr. Keith Jordan. He's a Boise resident who allowed me the honor of creating his vision of the cover art for his wonderful book. What Mr. Jordan began on a Hermes typewriter in a guesthouse in Austria in 1968 and ended in Beluh, North Dakota in 1982, became the acclaimed publication, "One White Whisker" in 2017. OWW is two stories that interconnect. Beginning and ending each chapter is an allegorical tale of a feral black alley cat and his harsh existence. Inserted within is the story of people who run a jazz club, their relations to each other, and especially a black boy who rises from busboy to a famous jazz band leader. The portal from one story to the other is a ventilation shaft from which the cat witnesses the strange and erratic behavior of his enemies, the Diurnal Furless Bipeds, and especially the black boy who believes the black cat gives him musical inspiration. The story takes place in the city in the deep South during the depression of the early 1930s.

TRUNKS ART Greeting Cards are "in the mix" at Mixed Greens!

Boise, ID — May 29, 2017 — I'm both honored and excited to have my Boise inspired greeting cards to be included "in the mix" at Mixed Greens in downtown.  See what I did there?  I know.  I just now came up with that.  The store could not be in a cooler location (on the corner of 9th and Idaho Streets) or have a more eclectic selection of unique gifts.  Nice layout.  Nice owners.  Nice vibe.  I hope you'll be as surprised and impressed as me when you walk into this beautiful shop.

"Boise Farmers Market!" The latest work from TRUNKS ART!

Boise, ID — April 19, 2017 — Arriving in the Boise Territory in the early 1860's, Chinese workers were well-known for their work ethic, patience and superior skills in gardening.  They typically delivered their fresh picked vegetables early in the morning, piling them in baskets hung on a pole that they carried over their shoulders.  Their legacy remains to this day in Boise's downtown farmers market.
