BRAND NEW work from TRUNKS ART! "Sounds of Silence" is the 4th composition in the NATURE SERIES!

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - December 28, 2020 - "Sounds of Silence" (#4/12) - No, you're not looking at the back of a cereal box as you hunch over a bowl of Sugar Smacks; instead, it's a rendering of what comes to mind when I imagine the sounds of silence.  For as long as we've been on earth, human beings have always had a penchant to 'get back to nature.'  Why is that?  I think it's in our DNA to do so since we evolved right alongside babbling brooks, whispering winds, distant thunderclaps and the roar of oceans.  In a primal sense, the song of a hidden bird or the rustling of leaves on a forest floor has a way of calming us, sort of like nature's therapy.

A few years ago, I was on my bike deep in Utah's Snow Canyon State Park, near St. George, when I noticed that there was no sound at all.  Nothing.  It was so surreal that I stopped and sat down to listen to it.  Some 30 minutes later, I woke up in the middle of the red clay bike trail feeling both shocked that I fell asleep like that and ready to climb the monster hills that stood between me and my truck.  And, as I grinded up those long, steep inclines with red dust still on my arms and legs, I remember feeling a happiness in my heart, a quietness in my mind and a gratefulness for having heard the sounds of silence. ðŸ’–💖💖

A Tribute to John Harris (my college roommate) from TRUNKS ART

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - December 28, 2020 - I think we all have people in our lives who have had a long-lasting, positive impact on our lives.  Most of the time, I create artwork that serves as my way of showing gratitude and appreciation.  But sometimes, I write about it.  I invite you to read a heartfelt tribute to my college roommate and his wonderful family who I came to know almost 40 years ago!  Just go to the 'about' page on my website (www.trunksart.com) and click on "John Harris."  2nd picture: John and I on his family farm in 1982.  3rd picture: John's father, Mr. Harris; his sister, Jennifer; and John this past Christmas in North Carolina. ðŸ’–💖💖

New work from TRUNKS ART! "Winds of Change" is the third installment of the Nature Series!

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - December 11, 2020 - "Winds of Change" (#3/12) -  For the most part, change is good, right?  If you're 'all in' and don't give up, you WILL BE successful whether you're going with the wind or against it.  For some reason, I was taught to believe that you needed to suffer and sacrifice in order to accomplish anything worthy of merit.  So, off I went to conquer the world and stake my claim by always choosing to trudge against the wind, paddle upstream and climb mountains.  Go WITH the flow?  Are you kidding me?  That route had a big arrow sign that read, "Losers: This Way!"  Time has a way of softening and opening us - even crotchety, crusty types like me.  What I feared would feel like 'quitting' if I turned my back to the wind ended up feeling more like 'acceptance' and 'surrender.'  Not only was success still possible, it was more meaningful and impactful.  So, let me get this straight; if my heart is in the right place AND I cooperate with the universe - I can offer my best contributions, make a difference and NOT be adding to the woes of the world?  I'm in.  I'm 'all in.' ðŸ’–💖💖

TRUNKS ART is "Under Pressure!" This is the second of twelve nature inspired compositions!

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - November 21, 2020 - "Under Pressure" (#2/12) -  Did you know that Earth has its own pressure relief valve?  Actually, there are 600 of them on land and 3 times as many under the ocean and NOT one of them is a reset button!  "Damn you, 2020! DAMN YOU!!" (shakes fist at nothing toward the cold, grey, uncaring, winter sky).  What's even more interesting is that at any given moment, 10 to 20 volcanoes are erupting!  "Gees, Earth, why so stressed?" (said without a shred of biting sarcasm).  Turns out, when the earth's mantle is melted by the core, the molten rock (or magma) rises to the surface as lava to reestablish that much needed equilibrium.  Ha! This is oddly similar to what I need to do from time to time.  After finding a quiet, private place, I whip out my phone and go to my 'tried and true' YouTube lineup of 8 inspiring videos.  I've seen them hundreds of times and yet they always melt my freeze dried heart and remind me of two things: relationships matter most and that life is beautiful. ðŸ’–💖💖

Notes and Close-ups of "Your Choice." Details! Details! Details!

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - November 15, 2020 - Hi everyone.  Good morning or afternoon.  My recent composition, 'Your Choice,' may look like the back of a cereal box but it took me over a month and more than 60 sessions to complete because I'm pretty meticulous on the details.  Here are some close-ups and sketch work to peruse and enjoy.  Thank you (as always) for your interest and support!💖💖💖

TRUNKS ART starts a new NATURE SERIES with "Your Choice!"

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - November 7, 2020 - "Your Choice" (#1/12) - Isn't it amazing? I mean, just think about it for a second. Sun rays that land on one leaf type makes plums, another produces oranges, still another creates apples. See? Incredible. I know I'm gushing about the eighth grade science lesson of photosynthesis, but c'mon; ANY process that uses good ol' sunlight to turn carbon dioxide and water into sugar and oxygen is pretty awesome to know about at any age, right? Hmmm. If you stop and think about it, it's a lot like what we see in society. We all live under the same sun yet some people choose to spew negativity while others promote acceptance, support, humor, wisdom and love. Remember, it's your choice. 💖💖💖

'Join Me?' notes and close-ups from TRUNKS ART!

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - October 13, 2020 - Well, it's a wrap my friends.  My physics art series was finished when I completed my "Join Me?' composition last week.  It took a year to do all 12 and I loved every minute of it.  Theses are some of my notes and close ups of that final work.  Notice how I can't seem to follow my own sketch plans because I end up doing something completely different once I get started - every time! ðŸ’–💖💖

And that's a wrap! TRUNKS ART completes the PHYSICS SERIES with "JOIN ME?!"

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - October 10, 2020 - "Join Me?" (#12/12) - More than ever, the ability to cope is an invaluable skill to have.  I don't mean ranting on Facebook or building a shack in the mountains to isolate yourself in - I mean that internal dialogue.  What's it saying to you? Mine is desperately trying to divert me from my current trajectory towards crotchety, old, get off my lawn guy.

"Join Me?" represents my coping mechanism which  takes into account that besides all the earthly roles I have, I'm also a card carrying member or 'being' of this beautiful, enigmatic universe.  When I revisit annoyances through the lens of the 'being' that I am, I notice how these seemingly, all-encompassing hassles diminish in importance.  As weird as it sounds, imagining myself on an asteroid helps me do this.  It doesn't mean I don't deal with problems - they just don't ruin my day like they did before.

A little behind the scenes of Aurora Borealis from TRUNKS ART!

Coeur d'Alene, Idaho - September 4, 2020 - Although unorthodox as hell, I like showing SOME of the 'behind the scenes' and close ups of my work.  These notes and images are from my recent 'Aurora Borealis' art composition. After SO many years, I still hang on for dear life as the creative madness turns into a magic carpet ride!  Thank you for allowing me to share with you. 💖💖💖
