TRUNKS ART presents "Sweet Escape" as the latest addition to the 'Chill Out' series!

Not every escape is a respite from the mundane toils of living in America. Some are momentary breathers from self-made lives rife with passion, love, contribution and satisfaction. Whether it's found on a secluded, lazy beach or in the arms of someone who holds your heart, we all need a "Sweet Escape."

"Sweet Escape" is part of my "Chill Out" Series. It's available in various sizes on paper or canvas as limited edition prints (75). Licensing of this image is available as well. To see more of my work, please visit my website at www.chucktrunks.com.

TRUNKS ART is busy creating his own little world! But who isn't, right?

When all you do is create art, it can feel like you're slowly constructing your own little world. Making these characters and designs come to life is the best part of being an artist; however, if I start talking to my work, please bring me back to reality gently!

New TRUNKS ART Release: "Wine Boggling!"

Is it me? Or is it more stressful to buy wine than mutual funds? I started thinking about this when I noticed that my mouse will hover over the 'buy fund button' on my broker's web page for about 3 minutes versus the 30 minutes or so I spend in the wine aisle trying to decide what I'm going to bring to the dinner party. Choose the wrong mutual fund and you'll just have to wait a little bit until the market turns around; choose the wrong wine and you could seriously jeopardize your social standing: "Egads! Who brought this vile rot?"

To get the help I needed, I first had to stop judging self-proclaimed wine lovers as just another version of the childhood story, The Emperor's New Clothes. "Oh my...the bouquet on this Pinot is to die for!" All that used to make me sick to my stomach until one of these connoisseurs bravely invited me to join her and her friends for some wine tasting. After only 10 minutes of trying this wine and that wine, I not only learned that it's good to have friends that know something about wine, I discovered that the emperor really does look sporty in his new getup! "Wine Boggling" is part of my "A La Art Series" and promises not to pass judgment if you happen to enjoy wine from a box.

*"Wine Boggling" (24x32) is part of my A La Art Series. It's available on paper or canvas as limited edition prints (75). Licensing of this image is available as well.

Simi Valley Town Center selects "Pop Star" out of 400 entries for their June Calendar!

As reported in the Simi Valley Acorn Newspaper on March 20th:

Simi Valley Town Center announces the featured artists selected for inclusion in the mall's monthly calendar. More than 20,000 Simi Valley Town Center calendars are distributed to Simi Valley and Moorpark households. They are also available on-site at the mall. The glossy, fullcolor calendar highlights all Town Center events, including a monthly fine art show and sale and a weekly farmers market. The selected artwork will be featured in the interior of the calendar, and the name of the artist will be listed on the front cover.

Ten winners were chosen from more than 400 entries from throughout Southern California, including Costa Mesa, Venice Beach, South Pasadena and Santa Barbara County. Chuck Trunks of Camarillo submitted the winning entry for June. Submissions were evaluated according to appropriateness to a public venue, artistic quality of work, reproducibility and general public appeal.

TRUNKS ART Prints - Now on Bamboo Paper!

One of the drawbacks to printing reproductions on paper (as opposed to canvas) is that you can lose some of the color brightness - and my work screams for its' POP! Although canvas is always the best way to go (because it allows me to add highlights and texture), it's a good idea to offer a 'paper option.' So, I now offer my work on canvas AND paper - bamboo paper, that is.

Here's a shot of a recent print of "Round 2" on mounted bamboo paper. Notice that this type of paper doesn't diminish the bright colors at all. Sweet! In the foreground you'll see that all of my artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity (CoA) along with the associated abstract.

Another good thing about printing art on bamboo paper is that you can mount it, frame it and put that baby under glass. Looks awesome! In this shot, you see another mounted print of "Round 2" on bamboo paper. This time, it's been nicely framed by my official framer: Museum Quality Framing in Camarillo.

TRUNKS ART: Embellishing "Race Day!" Hard work - but always worth it!

Embellishing a canvas print is more involved than you'd think. Adding color highlights is fun ('cause like I'm making it POP even more) but the whole texturing process can be challenging. In the end, it's always worth it because it adds even more color depth and gives it that "just finished look" - forever! How cool is that?

"Race Day" (32x24) is part of my A La Art Series. It's available on paper or canvas as limited edition prints (75). Licensing of this image is available as well.

TRUNKS ART selected for CD album cover!

"Numb Again" is the latest effort from native Californian sAs (aka Steve Sciallo). This evocative and sanguine collection of gently downtempo electronic songs, warm, sweet tempered beats and ambient textures echo sAs’ eclectic approach to musical composition. These instrumental pieces are haunting and spartan. It's the sound of the world that lies beneath mind, perpetually shifting and pulsing with somatic activity.

To hear samples of sAs's music from the critically acclaimed "Numb Again" CD or from his wildly successful debut CD, "Future Memory," please visit his website at www.wildoatsineden.com.

New Release from TRUNKS ART - "Strawberry Festival!"

Make no mistake about it - I love smoothies just as much as the next person but this composition is a tribute to the many strawberry festivals that dot the Southern California coastline every Spring. My goal for this piece was pretty simple - make the strawberries look inviting and put them in a fun environment. I hope you like it. "Strawberry Festival" is a limited edition of 75 prints on high quality canvas or paper.

Pictured above: Same canvas - but here I am getting started on the embellishing work.

TRUNKS ART is featured in the '08 winter issue of "Diva Latina" Magazine!

I'm really proud to be the featured artist in the current issue of Diva Latina, a seasonal magazine geared toward the more sophisticated latina culture in LA, Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties. And having been in the art business for quite some time, I found the publisher and editor-in-chief, Natty Rios-Sipes, and the creative director, Roberto Ramirez, to be off the charts in terms of professionalism and passion. With people like this, Diva Latina has no where to go but up!

New Commission Piece: A TRUNKS ART Original!

The first thing I'm usually asked when it comes to my commission pieces is "How do you make sure that the client will be happy with the finished product?" To get things started, I normally sit down with the client and ask them questions like, "What message do you want the piece to say?" and "Do you have a preference for certain kinds of imagery?" To better understand what kind of mood they're targeting, I'll ask them about colors.

The first image you see below is the final product I created for PQC Consulting, Inc., a global consulting firm specializing in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries. They wanted an image that focused on their ability to help overseas start-ups take their discoveries from the laboratory to the marketplace.

But soon after the initial interview, I provided the client with sketches. In this case, PQC wanted a combination of the two I gave them (see the sketch image below). Lastly, before I applied color to the piece, I sat down with the client again to make sure I captured the right mood. As you can see below, the color version is pretty dramatic when compared to the black and white version.

"PQC" - The final product - framed, 24"x32" on canvas.

TRUNKS ART Recognized in Art Business News Magazine!

In the 'Picture Gallery' section of this months' edition of Art Business News Magazine, you'll see a picture from a show I did last summer. The best part of this recognition is that I'm on the same page as THE ARTIST who inspired my work - Mr. Peter Max! I had the good fortune of meeting Mr. Max in Laguna Beach back in '06 and here we meet again - what an honor!

Photo caption: Artist Chuck Trunks (center) recently exhibited his "Hopes and Dreams" series at the Old Town Studio Gallery. The opening night hosted more than 250 people. Pictured from left are Jim Brent of Museum Quality Framing Trunks and Cammie Hardy, owner and curator of the gallery.

Embellishing "Round 2" - the last piece in my Hopes and Dreams Series!

Here's a quick picture of me embellishing my latest piece, "Round 2." Of course I'm thinking about the economic mess that's effecting everybody (including artists) but my prevailing thought is, "the art must go on!" "Round 2" is a tribute to the strength and beauty of women and is being offered as a limited edition print series of 75.

New Trunks Art Release: "Round 2" Completes the Hopes and Dreams Series!

"Round 2" mixed media (ink and acrylic) on canvas. 24x32 canvas and paper prints are available. Limited edition size is set at 75.

Here's a little insight into what I was thinking when I was creating "Round 2"...

As I watch the historic U.S. presidential elections unfold and reflect on the recent summer Olympic games in Beijing, I think it’s fair to say that 2008 has proven that ‘girlie toughness’ isn’t just an endearing term from an Oscar award winning movie – it’s a real quality in many of the women that we’ve grown to appreciate and admire.

Not only did I create this composition to pay tribute to the smart, hard working and beautiful women that surround many of us, my ultimate hope is that the casual observer will pick up on the oh-so-subtle details and experience a momentary flicker of underestimation right before recalling the title of this piece. Ding! Ding! Too late…Round 2 just started.

sAs's (Stephen Sciallo) debut album, "Future Memory" features TRUNKS ART!

Here's what they're saying about sAs's debut album, "Future Memory"...This debut release by sAs (aka Stephen Sciallo) has a sonic quality quite unlike other easy listening or background music. Using commercially available loops and samples (as well as his own unique MIDI input), sAs filters everything through his imaginative approach to song structure and musical interpretation. The result is a collection of innovative and romantic compositions. From the world beat of Cerulean Sky, to the minimalistic chilliness of Rose Petals or the mysterious motif of Future Memory, sAs is highly accessible but also wonderfully familiar without being cliché.

To hear samples of sAs's music or to order his debut album, please visit his distributor's website.
