An Excerpt from the chapter, "Sofia," in TRUNKS ART'S book: Heart Appreciation: Stories of Gratitude! It's such a sweet, beautiful story!

Columbia, South Carolina  - April 25, 2025 - An excerpt from the "Sofia" chapter: While she began to stand up, I saw that she was soaking wet. I remember muttering to myself, "Oh my god!" when mud oozed out of her helmet and down her face. Adding to the already chaotic scene were five or so runners from the crowd extending their hands and calling to her. When she lifted her head, I saw her searching for me amidst the pandemonium. Her face was wet with mud, but there were no tears, and from what I could tell, she looked unhurt. ðŸ’–

I found out early in life that good people bring you happiness while not-so-good people teach you lessons, but this book focuses on the great ones who give you lasting memories.

In this collection of personal and lyrical short stories, you will learn how a nine-year-old girl, a pro football legend, a Fortune 500 CEO, a feisty old man, a country boy, a Puerto Rican logistics manager, a new hire from Santa Barbara, a college buddy, and a high school gym teacher taught me about dignity, compassion, loyalty, charisma, humility, selflessness, and so much more.

These non-fiction reflections combine elements of humor, poetry, essay, and memoir and serve as reminders that we are truly a result of what we learn from others. I extend my deepest appreciation and gratitude to everyone mentioned in this book as well as to those who will be honored in subsequent compilations.  ðŸ’–💖💖

"Heart Appreciation: Stories of Gratitude" is TRUNKS ART'S first of six books. There are 10 stories in the book. Which is your favorite?

Columbia, South Carolina  - August 15, 2024 - An excerpt from the "Keith" Chapter: I hadn't seen Keith for a couple of months and thought about stopping to talk about these fascinating trees with him. But just as I was about to come up beside him, I thought better of it and kept going. I'm not even sure if he recognized me, as I didn't look back. "How freaking ironic," I said to myself. Just like Keith's novel, our relationship was its own dystopian tale with an ending nobody would like. And when the path veered away from the river, away from the shade, I remember thinking, "That's real life." ðŸ’–

TRUNKS ART is feeling grateful this holiday season!

Nampa, Idaho  - December 19, 2023 - An excerpt from the "Kevin" Chapter: So many analogies came to mind as I watched Kevin speak from a stage that had showcased singers and dancers the night before, yet he was no actor. His tall frame, silver hair, and tanned face made him look the part, but it was his command of the moment that made me think, 'This guy's the real deal.' To me, Kevin eased into his industry-leading role like a guy slipping into a jacuzzi that was at the perfect temperature...💖

TRUNKS ART'S first book, "Heart Appreciation: Stories of Gratitude" is a reminder that gratitude is above pride.

Nampa, Idaho  - August 15, 2023 - I think it's a healthy practice to take pride in one's accomplishments. Otherwise, it would be pretty difficult to create and maintain a sense of self-worth. But taking self-praise to the levels I've seen on social media--especially over the past five or so years--can project a less than humble persona. It might even rub people the wrong way. If building self-esteem is like climbing a ladder, then gratitude is a rung above pride. I was inspired to write "Heart Appreciation: Stories of Gratitude" by the people who helped me become the person I am today. Without them, I certainly wouldn't have anything to brag about. ðŸ’–

"Heart Appreciation" by Chuck Trunks (Trunks Art)

Nampa, Idaho  - April 19, 2023 - I believe that everyone is suffering in their own way--some more than others. One of the ways to ease that suffering is to find moments of gratitude for what you DO have. ðŸ’–

TRUNKS ART: Something Special Happened...

Nampa, Idaho  - August 26, 2022 - Every now and then, something really special happens. I received a letter from a forty-seven-year-old terminally ill cancer patient who wrote to thank me for making him think back to all those he was so grateful for - including my friend who read my book, Heart Appreciation: Stories of Gratitude, to him twice under her hospice care, his favorite being, "Mike." He wrote about his life, his loves, and accomplishments. And he even sent me a $25 Starbucks card to boot. I didn't have a chance to thank him because he passed away the very next day. ðŸ’–
